About Ketamine Infusion Therapy

What is Ketamine Infusion Therapy?

Ketamine is a Glutathione receptor inhibitor. As a blocker of this receptor, it prevents the uptake and breakdown of this chemical and leaves more Glutathione circulating in your blood.

Glutathione can be thought of as the ‘nutrition’ to the brain. The neurons in your brain
need Glutathione to work. You are literally reshaping the neuro plasticity of your brain.

About Our Business

Where is Ketamine Administered?

We administer ketamine only at our private, safe and high tech clinic in Santa Clarita, California. Your private room has double layered sound proof system to ensure a peaceful environment.

About Our Business

Why Ketamine Infusion?

This is one of the most important questions. Everyone’s ‘why’ will be slightly different. And that is why a personalized, individual treatment plan is so important. The big picture reasons our clients receive this treatment are for Anxiety, PTSD, Depression and certain Chronic Pain Syndromes.

About Our Business

How is it administered?

Ketamine infusion is administered through and IV(Intra-Venous) route.

The IV is usually placed on the back of your hand, but it can also be placed in the upper arm area. Our critical trained nursing staff make sure to take all measures to ensure your safety and comfort.

Your vital signs are checked regularly through the infusion (including your Heart Rate, oxygen level and blood pressure). We recommend either a white noise sound or just the ambient noise canceling function of head phones. External music and sound can interfere with your experience. Ketamine is infused using a pump to ensure accurate dosing and is administered over 45 minutes.

Once the infusion is done, you will remain in your seat/recliner for another 30 minutes, while the medicine metabolizes through your system. You will need a ride home from our clinic and please keep in mind that Ride Shares will NOT be an acceptable form of transport.

FAQ’s

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be referred by my psychiatrist?

No, you don't need a referral. We'll still want to discuss your medical history, and you'll go through a consultation to determine if this treatment is right for you.

If ketamine therapy works for me how soon will I begin to feel better?

Some people feel relief from core symptoms within hours, while others might take a day or more. Sometimes it takes more than one treatment to start feeling the benefits.

Where is the treatment performed?

All treatments are outpatient and take place right here at our Santa Clarita clinic.

Will I require ketamine treatments for the rest of my life?

No, not at all. Some patients find long-term relief after just a series of treatments.

Will ketamine therapy help my treatment-resistant depression?

Ketamine therapy has a very high success rate in treating major depression. Research and our own experience show that up to 80% of patients see positive treatment outcomes, including fast and significant relief. We tailor the treatment to you, aiming to give you the best shot at success.

What should I expect during my infusions of ketamine?

The infusion lasts about 40 minutes, with the dose determined by your weight. You won't lose consciousness and might experience bright colors or even a "dissociative" sensation. Most people find it manageable and some even pleasant.

How many ketamine treatments will I receive?

Most people go through a series of four to six treatments based on how they respond.

How will I feel after my infusion?

The dissociative properties of ketamine might make you feel a bit tipsy, nauseous, or tired. Many are back to work within 1-2 hours, but it's a good idea to take the rest of the day off after your first session just to be safe.

What happens after my series of ketamine treatments?

We'll have a follow-up consultation 4 weeks after your initial series. Most people opt for another series of 4 treatments in the next 3-6 months, but this varies widely from person to person.

Should you get ketamine treatment in combination with therapy?

Combining ketamine treatment with ongoing therapy can be a powerful approach for some individuals. If you are currently receiving individual therapy for mental health issues, ask your therapist about ketamine infusions for more effective treatment.

Are there other side effects I should be concerned about?

In some people, physical symptoms of treatment may include nausea or a brief headache. You'll likely feel tired, and that's why we monitor your vital signs during the treatment.

What medical conditions could keep me from receiving ketamine?

Not many, but we'll go over any contraindications in medical conditions or prescription medications during your initial consultation.

Do I need to bring someone with me?

You don't need company during the treatment, but you will need a ride home. Operating machinery is off the table for the rest of the day.

Can I eat or drink before my appointment?

Skip solid foods for 6 hours prior, but clear liquids and coffee are fine.

Will my current psychiatric medications interfere with ketamine treatment?

Most antidepressants don't interfere with ketamine, so there's no need to stop taking them. Always consult your prescribing physician before making any changes to your medication.

Will my insurance company pay for ketamine therapy?

Insurance typically doesn't cover IV ketamine, but we offer payment plans to make it more manageable. Ready to take the first step towards a brighter, more balanced life?

Reach out today to schedule your initial consultation. We're here to guide you every step of the way.
